I have been subscribing to Linux magazines since a publisher somewhere saw readership potential, and decided to print one. Some bundle a CD or a DVD or nothing. Linux Format's latest issue (#136 if you are keeping count) has just trumped them all.
Besides a DVD with a modded openSUSE 11.3 and a stock Mandriva Spring 2010 Spring, and a lot more (thanks Mike!), the magazine comes with a free gift -- a distro-themed fold-able snake and ladders game. This is the stuff for Kirk.
In the spirit of a review (sorry Graham, I know you'll be biased on this one), the game is intended for four players (Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, and Linux Mint), with a cut-out dice (1,2,3,4,5,6, what did you expect!), and the objective is to reach to the top of the rankings. On the way you are assisted by ladders, and hindered by snakes. And that's where the fun lies.
Seriously though the game is a wonderful example of the wit and humor we've come to expect from the good guys at Linux Format (and no I'm not paid to say that, but soon I will be). This one is for the keeps. Thanks Paul for giving me a valid reason to shoot past deadlines.
